Tips for Creating a Wiki

• Create the structure for your users before publicizing the wiki. It will help keep the wiki organized over timeand will help users who are unsure of where to put things.
• If your audience is unlikely to be familiar with wikis, provide an FAQ on how they can add information to the wiki.
• If the wiki is open for contribution from the public, include a disclaimer that the wiki includes information from sources outside  the library.
• You need to think of copyright in two respects.
  • You need a clear policy for contributors about not including material that is protected by copyright.
  • You need to have a clear statement of whether the content on the wiki is protected by copyright. Consider Creative Commons licensing.
• Make sure you have adjusted the settings so that you (and maybe one or two other people) are notified about any changes to the wiki. Take care of SPAM immediately.
